Public Improvement Districts (PIDs)

Special Financing Districts, also known as Special Districts or Districts, are authorized by several different State Statutes, including, but not limited to, the Texas Local Government Code: Chapter 372 and Chapter 375 and the Texas Water Code: Chapter 54 and Chapter 57. These statutes enable developers to construct infrastructure and other improvements that provide special benefits to district residents. Residents then repay the cost of these improvements through additional assessments. These assessments will be paid in addition to other taxes levied by other entities, including the City of Lavon, Collin County, your school district, and others.

Residents are encouraged to review the documents they signed at closing for their home purchase for more detailed information on special financing districts where their property may be located.
